Parents Anonymous® of New Jersey, Inc.

A statewide, nonprofit organization accredited by Parents Anonymous® Inc., the national organization, operating a diverse network of parent support/empowerment services that meet in communities all over New Jersey.  From Cape May to Bergen County, in community centers, in schools, in domestic violence shelters, in prisons and in Family Support Organizations, parents turn to Parents Anonymous® to provide free, non-stigmatizing help to strengthen their families. 

Parents Anonymous of New Jersey is available to assist communities with the development of free parent support groups that are parent led, and professionally facilitated.  Other services include:

    • 1-800-the-kids (800-843-5437) a 24 hour Family Helpline always answered by a caring volunteer.
    • Parent Burnout Workshops
    • Parent Engagement Training and Technical Assistance
    • Groups for Adult Survivors of Child Abuse (H.O.P.E.S. Healing Ourselves Physically, Emotionally and Spiritually)

With a 30 year history of providing parent empowerment technical assistance to agencies throughout the state; an organizational structure with three regional offices (Newark, Trenton, and Millville) that supports program development statewide; and a diverse, experienced, culturally competent, prevention oriented, family strengthening trained staff, Parents Anonymous is one of the statewide leaders in the prevention field.

The Statewide Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN)

Provides information, training, technical assistance, parent-to-parent/family-to-family support, leadership development/capacity building and advocacy.  Our vision is that all families in New Jersey will have the resources and support they need to ensure that their children become fully participating and contributing members of our communities and society.  Our mission is to empower and support families and inform and involve professionals and others interested in the healthy development and education of children and youth.  Our focus is on the whole child and family, including education, health and mental health, human services, child care, and child welfare/prevention.  Our foremost commitment is to children and families with the greatest need due to disability or special healthcare, including mental health, needs; poverty; discrimination based on race, sex, language, immigrant or homeless status; involvement in the foster care, child welfare, or juvenile justice systems; geographic location; or other special circumstances.  Our motto is Empowered Parents: Educated, Engaged, Effective!  To reach us, call 800-654-SPAN or go to www.spannj.org.

New Jersey Alliance of Family Support Organizations

New Jersey Alliance of Family Support Organizations, Inc. supports  a network of fifteen Family Support Organizations (FSOs)across the state through training, technical assistance, policy development, identification of best practices, data collection and resource development. FSOs are family-led, community-based non-profit agencies whose mission is to provide support, advocacy, and education to families and caregivers of children with emotional, behavioral and mental health needs. FSOs ensure that the highest quality child-centered & family friendly approaches to service delivery are created and maintained throughout New Jersey.

Family Intervention Services, Inc. (FIS)

A private, non-profit organization providing crisis intervention, therapeutic counseling, case management, education and support to New Jersey children and families. Also provided is training and technical assistance to human service professionals and organizations throughout New Jersey. FIS was founded in 1981 by President and Chief Executive Officer Jeanne M. Warnock, LCSW, with the primary mission of keeping families intact by preventing the need to remove children from their homes.  FIS operates more than 20 programs administered by eight offices located throughout New Jersey.  

The FIS mission is to promote the positive growth, development and well-being of children, families and communities.  FIS believes that healthy families build strong communities and that strong communities protect and nurture children.  FIS staff members reinforce the strengths and resources that already exist within each family and meet with families in the office, community and their own homes at the convenience of the family.  FIS family-centered and family-driven programs work to build and sustain healthy, productive and long-term family relationships by providing the support families need to be independent and self-sufficient.
